WANT ADMISSION IN THE TOP UNIVERSITIES GIVE IT A READ

A SCHOLARSHIP APPROACH

So, to start with I hope everyone is doing well in this chaotic situation created across the globe by a nano size, menacing, shape-shifting creature i.e. Corona Virus.

Due to this a lot of schools and universities are put on hold for some time, but surely this time will end, and students should prepare for the upcoming opportunities heading their way.

Let’s just start with the fact that many students have completed their A levels and are ready to apply for either good scholarships abroad or universities in their own country.

Remember these points if you want to secure a good scholarship.

The majority of the students don’t even know how to approach some really good opportunities abroad but they can do that by themselves and I’ll write a good blog about it in the future.

So let’s start, first things first answer the following questions below:

1, Did you complete your A levels?

2, If yes, then are you thinking of applying abroad?

3, Which universities are you targeting?

4, Do you have a SAT score?

5, If yes, Do you have IELTS or TOEFL?

6, Have you done any kind of online course from any website related to your field or passion?

7, Do you know that many universities are NEED BLIND?

8, Lastly, do you have good grades with a mixture of different skillset.

Now let me explain why I asked about these things. Firstly plan big if you are a high achiever if you have good grades in O and A levels then apply for the world’s best universities on your own, and it’s not tough. You might think Universities like MIT, HARVARD, OXFORD and CALTECH(my favorite), etc. will not give admission to you just because they are the best in the world, and require nerds. But here is the fun part it does give admission to the rock-solid students from various backgrounds. The only thing they want is that “you are good in the things you say in your PS/SOP”.

The reason for saying this is because before you apply you write Personel Statement(PS) or Statement of Purpose (SOP) in which you highlight your strengths and weaknesses and also why you want to study at that particular university. If you can prove that what you have written in your essays is correct from top to bottom and your skills and extracurricular activities support your statement, then trust me you have a high chance of getting inside that university. Now comes the most important part tuition fee even If you get admission the problem for the fee comes into mind, so let me tell you this and it applies to many international universities abroad, even the topmost the IVY LEAGUES, that they mostly offer need-blind scholarship which is the full tuition fee to study for 4 years in your bachelor’s degree program.

There is no doubt that this is the best opportunity for all international students but only a few students make it to these top universities. But the shocking point here is that many don’t apply because they think they won’t make it and that’s the reason why even if destiny wants you to be at a good place, you let it go yourself.

So, “TRY” is the keyword here apply in these universities without thinking for a second that you might not make it.

Now let’s focus on the things you need to make a good student profile.

  • Firstly, have good grades, applying in the top universities requires good grades and if you don’t have them then you can refer to the second point but its highly likely that you will be rejected even if you are good at other things.
  • Secondly, having good grades is the key in many selection scenarios, but trust me nobody can beat passion, if you are applying, for example in Computer Sciences field, and if you have learned about programming in your O levels or A levels then trust me guys you have proven yourself worthy in the eyes of the selection committee. So, before writing an SOP or PS work on your skillset what extra things you have done in your life that support your application in the mighty universities.
  • Extracurriculars are a supportive factor i.e. you prove that you are not a nerd you are a complete masterpiece who can work dynamically not statically. Being excellent in all dimensions is the key, prove your worth, show your achievements in this as well as accolades won in competitions and championships at the national or international level.
  • Lastly, remember not all candidates are perfect, work on yourself in the period of O and A levels don’t waste it. The world is evolving and if you prepare yourself for the worst you will at one point succeed.

CHECKLIST BEFORE APPLYING

  • Give all the tests needed for universities, check the university’s website for the particular field and also the admission criteria. Some common tests for the best universities include SAT(MOST IMPORTANT) IELTS and TOEFL (depending upon the country).
  • Prepare all the documents don’t lose your transcripts or the certificates, if you have, then go get them as soon as possible.
  • Do practice essay writing we all overlook this basic fact that English is the key you can’t use your native language, in PS and SOPs, so practice them because if you don’t you won’t write good enough and this will be a signal to the admission committee that he/she might not be a good fit because you will not be able to present yourself well.

SOME WEBSITES TO WORK ON YOUR SKILL SET

Do courses from these websites:

  • COURSERA one of the best websites out there. You can get certificates as well from the best universities in the world. For free based on scholarship and its easy to get this scholarship almost 90 percent of the people get it.
  • EDX it’s also a good website, but you can’t get certificates for free that easily from this place, but it’s the best if you complete a course and pay $50 to get a certificate to support your application.
  • Codecademy for learning programming languages. It’s a paid website but some of its courses are free.
  • Tutorials point free for learning various courses.

SUMMARY:

It’s easy to get admission after A-levels but preparing for the best requires effort and if you prepare yourself for this trust me you might get admission into the top universities in the world.

Do remember the word “NEED BLIND”, again I repeat it means that if you get admission in the top universities you will get the 100 percent scholarship for your studies.
